Follow Your Bliss

Isn’t it adorable how as humans we complicate the poop out of things? Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not claiming to be some super easy going simplified person, I mean after all I AM a woman, right? ;) But some of the deepest concepts I truly believe in are ironically, the simplest. I feel as humans we all tend to overcomplicate and over think things. I know I am most certainly guilty of this myself. I mean most of us weren’t brought up on “easy”.

In this life there are many “simplistic” concepts that I truly believe in. One of those is:

“Follow Your Bliss”.

Literally, that’s it. Simple, right? It should be, but it isn’t always in the society we are all raised in today. Our current culture doesn’t often deem creative dreams as “realistic” careers, yet at the same time we worship celebrities, actors, and musicians who have found a way to make those “unrealistic dreams” a reality.

So my point is this, in this life we are all born into such different families, economic situations, talents, and interests. Why do you think that is? Just for the hell of it? I personally believe there is a meaning, and reason behind the way we all grew up and the things we become passionate about. Just because our modern day society doesn’t promote something as “realistic” or “easy” doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still peruse it if it happens to be our passion.

Author Marsha Sinetar wrote in excellent book on the matter called Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow.

One of my favorite spiritual leaders, Paramahansa Yogananda, also stated a very similar belief which was “Do what you love and find a way to make money at it.”

I understand this one-dimensional concept is hard to grasp because the world is not always kind. However, I do not understand why someone like “Bob” (let's call him) is absolutely fantastic at the bass guitar, at 17, yet discouraged to prolong this love and talent because ideologies of this world condemn it.

As cheesy as it sounds, I believe we were all brought here for a purpose. I also believe most of us get lost along the way, myself included. All I know is when you are truly present in this life, it is as if this world around us becomes 3D, or “HD”. Everything suddenly becomes crystal clear and you feel different, you see different. You become one with the universe, and suddenly find that power within yourself that has always been there. Sometimes, it’s so simple it’s unfathomable; it’s almost like clicking the “easy” button at Staples. We often overlook such simple and easy concepts because they don’t seem realistic, cause that is what we are brought up to believe.

Call me a dreamer, but I will always believe that life is about following your bliss, otherwise, why would you have it?
